O Crystal Party, after Andrew Rihn’s ‘O Sugar Party’, by Ilias Tsagas

Ilias Tsagas
Shreds of dawn between my temples
freeing me from terror.

We meet in the black market: him, me, that.

Starting all over: hopes condensed in the
night sky with exit wounds.

Wounds and shadows
meth pretty much one with my shit.

The night doesn’t shun
it creaks.

*’O Sugar Party’ is one of the poems comprising ‘O Hungry Star,’ Andrew Rihn’s pamphlet published by Beir Bua Press in 2021.

**night sky with exit wounds is the title of Ocean Vuong’s poetry collection published by Copper Canyon Press in 2016.
